What is High Water Pressure?
All properties require the incoming water pressure to high enough to provide adequate flow to all of the fixtures in your properties, but not too high. When the pressure is too high, the excessive pressure wears out your plumbing system and everything connected to it, such as water heaters, washing machines, faucets, dishwashers, toilets, and so on. Therefore, it is important to keep properties water pressure to a safe level.
Water Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV)/ Regulator and Thermal Expansion Tank are useful in maintaining water pressure at safe levels. However, these plumbing devices have a limited life expectancy, and when they fail, there is often no clear indication to property owners until a catastrophic failure occurs that causes flooding and expensive property damage. It also increases consumption and wastes water.
High water pressure is like high blood pressure. It puts unnecessary stress in your plumbing system. It is a major cause of leaks and water related problems that cause expensive property damage. The ideal range for home water pressure is between 40 to 60 PSI, anything above this can cause problems. Further, plumbing codes, such as the Uniform Plumbing Code, require system water pressure to be 80 pis or less. High water pressure might seem like a minor inconvenience, but it can lead to severe issues over time.
